Guwahati Sports Association election: Paresh, Devajit set to be elected unopposed

The submission of nomination papers for the forthcoming election of the association came to an end this evening and there was no second candidate in both the posts.

GUWAHATI: Veteran Sports organizer Paresh Chandra Das and former Ranji cricketer Devajit Saikia are all set to elect president and general secretary in the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) unopposed. The submission of nomination papers for the forthcoming election of the association came to an end this evening and there was no second candidate in both the posts. The formal announcement will be made during the Annual General Meeting of the Guwahati Sports Association that is scheduled to be held in the city on May 6.

Although Das, a candidate for the president post, submitted his nomination papers on Sunday, Devajit Saikia submitted it for the post of general secretary. All other candidates, except for the post of assistant general secretary, are also set to be elected unopposed.

Treasurer: Amiyo Kumar Kalita. Joint Secretary: Kajal Paul Choudhury. Assistant General Secretary: Bablu Choudhury, Siddhartha Sankar Deka and Ranjit Sarma. Football Secretary: L Pranab Singh. Cricket Secretary: Nasir Gul Khan. Volleyball Secretary: Pradip Sarma. Table Tennis Secretary: Gitartha Das. Badminton Secretary: M Ranjit Singha. Athletics Secretary: Raghabendra Mazumdar. Hockey Secretary: Manash Nandi. Basketball Secretary: Manjit Hazarika.
