Guwahati to host Senior National Taekwondo

Disclosing the news in a media briefing the president of the All Assam Taekwondo Association Bolin Chetia, MLA Sadiya, said that nearly 1000 players from various parts of the country will take part in the forthcoming meet.

GUWAHATI: The 39th Senior National (Kyorugi) and 12th Senior National (Poomsae) Taekwondo Championship will be held in Guwahati from September 9. All Assam Taekwondo Association will host the three-day tournament at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor stadium at the Sarusajai sports complex. .

Disclosing the news in a media briefing the president of the All Assam Taekwondo Association Bolin Chetia, MLA Sadiya, said that nearly 1000 players from various parts of the country will take part in the forthcoming meet. The total budget of the meet is around Rs 30 lakh.

The media briefing was also attended by the general secretary of the All Assam Taekwondo Association Hiranya Saikia. He informed that altogether seven courts (five for Kyorugi and two for Poomsae) would be used during the tournament to hold the competition. He also said that the top seven position winning states in this championship will qualify for the forthcoming National Games scheduled to be held in Goa.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to inaugurate the competition.
