Hemanta Kalita retains AABA secretary post

The Secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) Hemanta Kalita retained his post unopposed in the new committee of the association.

GUWAHATI: The Secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) Hemanta Kalita retained his post unopposed in the new committee of the association. The last date of submission of nomination paper was on Sunday and Kalita was unchallenged.

The next Annual General Meeting of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association will be held in the city on September 19. The new committee for the four-year term would be selected in the meeting. Although Kalita has retained his post unopposed, election is likely to be held in a few key posts including president and treasurer unless there is no withdrawal of nomination papers within stipulated time. In the president post, current president Kalikanta Boro is all set to be challenged by Subhash Basumatari, the former Director of SAI, Guwahati and Kamal Chandra Gayari, top official of Bongaigaon District Boxing Association. In the treasurer post, there are two contestants- Sankar Pradhan and Bikram Lama.
