Huge prize money in Northeast (NE) Half Marathon

Apart from Guwahati, the Northeast Half Marathons will be organized in Darjeeling, Tawang and Gangtok also.

GUWAHATI: The first ever series of Half Marathons called the Northeast Half Marathon would be jointly organized by Northeast Frontier Railway and Innovations India in various picturesque locations of North East. The series will kick off from Guwahati on February 5.

A media briefing to officially launch the T-Shirt of the competition was held in the city on Wednesday. Anshul Gupta, GM, NFR along with the curator of the Marathon Captain Rahul Bali, president of NFR Sports Association Rajeev Mahajan,popular Manipuri actress Soma Laishram, Assamese Actor Kapil Bora, Veteran Cricketer Rajesh Borah and International Marathon Runner Abdul Barek attend the meet.

Bali informed the media that the Half Marathon will begin from NFRSA Stadium, Maligaon where around 3000 runners from all across India as well as abroad are expected to participate. Prizes worth Rs 11 lakh would be given away to the winners in addition to the Trophies, Medals and Merit Certificates.

Apart from Guwahati, the Northeast Half Marathons will be organized in Darjeeling, Tawang and Gangtok also.

Addressing media, Anshul Gupta, General Manager NFR said, "NF Railways has always been supporting and encouraging the sportspersons of Northeast India and NE Half Marathon is surely going to empower the talented sportspersons and immensely help in our endeavor of Developing Northeast India."
