GOLAGHAT : In remembrance of Captain Jintu Gogoi, VrC(P) of Indian Army and with the motive to bring out young talents of different parts of the country, Winner Trophy Tour of Captain Jintu Gogoi Veer Chakra Football Tournament was conducted here on Wednesday by Joypur batallion of Indian Army at Khumtai, the birth place of the martyr. It is worth mentioning that to make aware and attract the young generation to the field of sports and to unite all corners of the state, the Winner Trophy is on a round in whole Assam. On this occasion a programme was organised at Khumtai HS school playground in presence of Captain Jintu Gogoi's parents Thogiram Gogoi and Duluprobha Gogoi. As a part of the programme military band, cultural programme, Bihu dance, dance on pratriotic song were performed by students and local cultural groups. The programme was attended by ADC, Dr Sangeeta Borthakur, senior Army officials, students, teachers, people from Khumtai and other parts of the district. It is to be mentioned here that the tournament is scheduled to begin on February 15 and will conclude on February 22. The inaugural ceremony will be held at Nehru Maidan in Duliajan. Other than Duliajan the tournament will be organised in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Digboi with 24 teams from 8 states being a part of it.
