Jorhat Open Golf meet held at Jorhat Gymkhana Club Golf course

Jorhat Open Golf Tournament, organized by Jorhat Gymakhana Club, was held today at Jorhat Gymkhana Club Golf course.

JORHAT: Jorhat Open Golf Tournament, organized by Jorhat Gymakhana Club, was held today at Jorhat Gymkhana Club Golf course.

Jakir Hussain of Misa Polo Club won the title while Satya Saikia of Jorhat Gymkhana Club stood second.

Atlogether 88 golfers from different clubs of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya participated in the tournament.

Dr. Upendra Singh lifted the handicap U-12 category title whereas Col. Narendra Bahadur was the winner of handicap 13-24 age category. The stableford winner of handicap U-12 category was Arunjyoti Burgohain. Lt. Col. Amandeep Singh won this title in handicap 13-24 age category.

The winner amongst the ladies was Agnish Ashen while the runners up was Reetamoni Hazarika. The skill prizes for the longest drive was won by Satya Saikia of Jorhat Gymkhana Club and for the nearest to the pin was Hitesh Kaushik.

It should be mentioned that, Organizing Committee received valuable support from ONGC, NRL, INDIGO Airlines, the Indian Army and the members of the club. Jorhat Gymakhana Club in the recent years has been trying to popularize golf specially among new generation. The club provides coaching for budding golfers. The century old golf course is extensively improved with help from the members.
