Medal winners in 37th National Games felicitated by Mama Natung, Taba Tedir in Itanagar

Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung along with Education Minister Taba Tedir on Friday felicitated the sportsmen who brought laurels to the state by winning several medals in the 37th National Games at Goa.

ITANAGAR: Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung along with Education Minister Taba Tedir on Friday felicitated the sportsmen who brought laurels to the state by winning several medals in the 37th National Games at Goa.

Natung offered warm congratulations to the exceptional achievement of the girls who emerged at the top of the medal tally. Tedir also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the sportsmen of the state.

Sports & Youth Affairs secretary Abu Tayeng, Director of Sports Tadar Appa, Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) secretary general Bamang Tago and the principal, coaches and students of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy were also present to encourage the athletes.

The felicitation ceremony also witnessed the presence of key figures such as the Chief De Mission Bulang Marik, deputy chief de mission Nada Apa among others, who played instrumental roles in the success of the Arunachal Pradesh contingent at the National Games.

The 37th National Games marked the first time Team Arunachal broke its previous record by winning 13 medals and placing 21st overall in position and securing 3rd place amongst the northeastern states.

Team Taekwondo was adjudged second overall position in the event after the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) with a total medal of 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronzes.

The state lifters Taba Kojum and Charu Pesi won the gold medals in the men’s 102 and 61 Kg categories respectively representing SSCB.
