Mumbai, Karnataka, Baroda earn full points

GUWAHATI: Mumbai, Karnataka and Baroda earned full points in group 'B' matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket tournament in Guwahati today.

In the first match of the day, held at ACA Stadium, Barsapara Karnataka beat Services by 33 runs. It was the third victory for Karnataka in the competition and they are now placed top of the points table with 12 points. Mumbai, in the second game at the same venue, defeated Bengal by 10 runs.

Meanwhile at the Nehru Stadium Baroda registered their first victory in the competition defeating Chhattisgarh by 6 wickets.

Brief scores: Karnataka vs Services: Karnataka 142-6 (20 overs), Manish Pandey 66, Mayank Agarwal 48, D Pathania 2-31. Services 109-8 (20 overs), Rahul Singh Gahlot 34, V Vyshak 3-25.

Mumbai vs Bengal: Mumbai 131-7 (20 overs), Shivam Dube 24, Writtick Bijoy Chatterjee 2-19, Bengal 121-8 20 overs, Kaif Ahmed 31, Ritwik Roy Choudhury 30, Mohit Avasthi 3-25.

Baroda vs Services: Services 94 (19 overs), Amandeep Khare 27, Krunal Pandya 4-15, Baroda 98-4 (17.1 overs), N Rathva 33 no, PS Kohli 22, Ravi Kiran 2-14.

In reply Assam made a poor start losing opener Pallav Kumar Das for 0. However other opener Denish Das (18) and Abhisekh Thakuri (18) nicely repaired the damage adding 38 runs in just 28 balls. The remaining work was done by captain Riyan Parag and he got good support from Amlanjyoti Das.

Riyan faced 33 balls to score 58 runs and there were four boundaries and same number of over boundaries in his innings. Amlanjyoti came into bat after Assam lost three quick wickets in the form of Saahil Jain (2), Amit Sinha (0) and Rajjakuddin Ahmed (8). He gave good support to the captain and on the seventh wicket the duo added valuable 53 runs which ensured victory for Assam.

After the end of the third round Assam collected 8 points and are placed in second spot in the points table. Gujarat also bagged 8 points from three games but they were on the top spot with better net run rate.
