GUWAHATI: Mumbai defeated Assam by 83 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket tournament tie held in Mumbai today. Chasing 207 runs to win Assam scored 123-8 in their 20 overs.
The host dominated the match in all departments. Bat first in the game, held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, rode on solid 82 from Aditya Tare, scored 206-5 in 20 overs. The first wicket partnership between Prithvi Shaw(41) and Aditya put 139 runs on the board which made a solid foundation for Mumbai. Aditya took just 48 balls to score 82 with the help of 12 boundaries and one six.
Spinner Riyan Parag came out with the best bowling performance for Assam picking 3-30.
Later he also played a good knock with his bat. The promising batsman, who was retained by Rajasthan Royals for the next edition of ISL, scored 38 from 33 balls. There are two sixes and two boundaries in his innings. Both Sibsankar Roy and Amit Sinha scored 22 each in the game. However, openers once again failed to give a good start to the team as Pallav Das returned with a duck and his partner Hrishikesh Tamuly managed to score only 5.
