Nagaon to host State Body Building & Assam Body Builders meet

GUWAHATI: The 48th Assam State Body Building Championship will be held at Nagaon. The decision was taken in the executive committee meeting of the Assam Body Builders & Fitness Association which was held yesterday through video conference.

The meeting, presided over by working president Prasanta Bora, also took a few decisions.

In a release the general secretary of the association Bhabajyoti Goswami said,"It was decided in the meeting that the next edition of Assam State Body Building Championship will be held at Nagaon. But we have not finalized the date yet. If everything turns normal within next couple of months we can host the event in December."

About the other decisions taken in the meeting Goswami said,"Due to lockdown the gyms in the state are closed for a long period and the owners, trainers along with other members of the fitness industry have been suffering a lot. So we have decided to request government of Assam to take necessary step to reopen gyms and also give compensation to all effected people related with this fitness industry of Assam."

A few vacant posts were also filled unanimously in the meeting. MLA Rupak Sharma has been nominated as vice-president while Ananta Gogoi of Biswanath District and Arup Bora of Nagaon nominated as joint secretary. On the other hand Bipul Kumar of NF Railway and Deepen Bora of Lakhimpur nominated as EC Member.
