GUWAHATI: The president of the Indian Olympic Association Narinder Dhruv Batra today advised the officials of the Assam Olympic Association and different State Sports Association to start the sports activities in the state in a protected atmosphere.

Vatra met today with the officials of the Assam Olympic Association and the different state Sports Association through a video conference. Key officials from most of the State Sports Associations took part in this conference.

It may be mentioned here that sports activities had come to standstill because of lockdown imposed to combat COVID-19 pandemic. It's nearly two-moth that athletes were not able to go out and do their regular activities.

During today's meeting Batra advised the AOA officials to start sports activities in Assam by phase manner and that too taking all protective measures. Initial stage priority should be given on less body contact game like badminton, table tennis, weightlifting etc. However he advocated adopting a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in consultation with the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is also the president of the Assam Olympic Association, before the resume of sports activities in the State.

During the discussion The IOA president also assured all possible helps to the Assam Olympic Association.

Earlier the secretary of the Assam Olympic Association Lakhya Konwar met with the officials of the different State Sports Association through video and discussed on how the sports activities can be resumed in the state.
