Guwahati: The 21st National Janjati Sports Meet has been inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal today at LNIPE campus, Tepsia near Guwahati. Around 1200 tribal players from across the country are participating in 24 different sporting-events in this three-day meet which will provide an excellent platform for the players from tribal areas of the country.
Satya Prakash Mangal, Independent Director of NHPC was also present during the inauguration ceremony today as an invited guest. Keeping its commitments towards promotion of sports , NHPC has sponsored this National event. It may be mentioned here that, as a good corporate entity, NHPC has been relentlessly promoting rural sports in and around its operational areas especially in the North-eastern states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. This is stated in a release.
