ND24 kick off in style, debutant Karbi Anglong shine

Defending champion ND24 kicked-off the 3rd Raishmodi Nunisa Memorial North East Media Cricket Champions Trophy 2022 with comprehensive victory here at Judges Field on Friday by thrashing DDK 10 wickets.

GUWAHATI: Defending champion ND24 kicked-off the 3rd Raishmodi Nunisa Memorial North East Media Cricket Champions Trophy 2022 with comprehensive victory here at Judges Field on Friday by thrashing DDK 10 wickets.

In the morning, spinner Bikash Chetry destroyed DDK innings by claiming 6 wickets for 4 runs. They were bundled out for 57 in 15.5 overs. Anuj Basfore scored 21 while veteran Gautam Sharma added 13. In reply, captain Ranjit Changmai scored all the runs to reach the victory in just 2.4 overs without giving his partner to face single ball. Ranjit hit 6 sixes to score 58 off 16 balls.

Debutant Karbi Anglong Press Club impressed all, registered comfortable 7-wicket win over NK TV in the second match.

Losing the toss, NK TV managed 141 in allotted 20 overs losing 9 wickets with the help of opener Lakhyajyoti Gohain's 33 and Jitumoni Medhi's 32. Raju Ghosh and Mridul Rongpi took three wickets each. The highlanders started well in chasing as their openers put on 98 runs in 71 balls before Bibison Rongpi went back after scoring 39 runs. They reached the target in 17.2 overs losing 3 wickets. Mridul Rongpi remained unbeaten at 76 from 52 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes.

Ranjit and Mridul were the Man of the Match award winners of the matches.

Tomorrow title contender Asomiya Pratidin will face last year finalist Pratidin Time while News Time Assam face Karbi Anglong Press Club.
