ND24 storm into semifinal

GUWAHATI: Defending champion ND24 reached the semifinal of the 3rd Raishmodi Nunisa Memorial North East Media Cricket Championship defeating Shillong Press Club by 31 runs in their last league match at Judges Field today.

Batting first, ND24 managed 149 in allotted 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Raj Hussain (34), Amit Boro (33) and Bikash Chetry (21) were the main contributors. Afzason Marwein took 3 wickets for the highlanders. In reply, the Shillong side were bundled out for 118 in 19.5 overs. Opener Jaskiraj Singh scored 42 runs. Left-arm spinner Bikash Chetri took 4 wickets for 15 while Ranjit Chamgmai grabbed 3 wickets for 24. Bikash won the Man of the Match award.

Earlier, in a friendly match Ex-Ranji players beat Media Super Kings by 5 wickets. Batting first, Media Super Kings scored 97 in 20 overs losing 9 wickets with the help of Kishor Talukdar's 33 runs. Spinner Parag Das took 2 wickets. Ex-Ranji stars reached the target in 11.3 overs. Opener Zakaria Zufri scored unbeaten half-century.
