New IPL teams: Guwahati among six cities

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) put up six cities — Guwahati, Ranchi, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Dharamsala — for sale for the new two teams in IPL.

GUWAHATI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) put up six cities — Guwahati, Ranchi, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Dharamsala — for sale for the new two teams in IPL.

The auction is expected to be held next month, although the exact date of the auction is yet to be finalized. Rs 2000 crore has been fixed as the base price for the new teams.

It may be mentioned here that the IPL had earlier announced that it would increase the tournament from eight to 10 teams for the 2022 season.
