President of Assam Cricket Association Romen Dutta condole Gupta's demise

President of Assam Cricket Association Romen Dutta as well as Secretary Devajit Saikia condoled the demise of BCCI Level I umpire Kamal Krishna Gupta, who passed away of post COVID-19 complications on May 15 at 9:05 pm here at a city hospital. He was 54 years old, and left behind his wife and a son.

GUWAHATI: President of Assam Cricket Association Romen Dutta as well as Secretary Devajit Saikia condoled the demise of BCCI Level I umpire Kamal Krishna Gupta, who passed away of post COVID-19 complications on May 15 at 9:05 pm here at a city hospital. He was 54 years old, and left behind his wife and a son.

Gupta was a BCCI Level I and Assam Cricket Association's Class II Umpire, besides being an Executive Engineer in the Irrigation Department, Government of Assam.

President of Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA) Naba Konwar and Secretary Nasir Gul Khan are deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Gupta's sudden demise.

The officer bearers of VCAA felt the irrepairable void created by the untimely death of the well known and popular sports organiser of Assam.

A mentor for many budding Umpires of Assam, he holds the distinction of officiating many tournaments including RG Baruah, JK Baruah and Nur Ahmed Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament. Moreover, Gupta, who was also a popular sports organizer, was an office-bearer of Goalpara District Sports Association for several years. He was it's Cricket Secretary from 1996 to 2000, Treasurer from 2000 to 2002, and Vice-President from 2015 to 2018.
