GUWAHATI: Assam and Saurashtra shared points in the Ranji Trophy tie after the game between the two sides ended as a draw at the ACA Stadium here today. Assam were 366-6 in their second innings when the match came to an end. The highlight of the day's play was two good knocks from Riyan Parag and Sibsankar Roy. However both of them wasted golden opportunities to score a hundred in the match. Sibsankar got out on 75 and Riyan Parag missed it for just five-run.

Assam started the day's proceeding from their overnight second innings score 115-1. However both not out batters Kunal Saikia and Rishav Das didn't stay too long. The duo added just five runs when Rishav Das (29) got out and Kunal (60) followed him on the same score. Riyan and Sibsankar joined together on the wicket thereafter and settled quickly. There was not too much assistance for the bowlers from the wicket and the duo took full advantage of it. Riyan as usual preferred to score most of the runs from the boundaries and Sibsankar was not far behind him.

The duo on the fourth wicket added 180 runs and took Assam to safe zone. But the scenario changed when Saurashtra took the second new ball. Sibsankar lost his wicket on the second over playing an uppish shot which went straight to substitute fielder Samarth Vyas. The team's total was then exactly 300. The left hander scored 75 with the help of 11 boundaries. Ten runs later, well settled Riyan Parag lost his wicket in a very similar way smashing the ball of Chetan Sakariya over the rope and fielder Chirag Jani didn't need to move too much to take the catch. Riyan faced 150 balls to score 95 with the help of eight boundaries and five sixes.

Later Assam lost one more wicket in the form of Gokul Sarma who scored 25. Swarupam Purkayastha (31) and Akash Sengupta (4) remained not out when the match came to an end. Prerak Mankad bagged 3-31, Chetan Sakariya and KD Patel were the other wicket taker bowlers for the visitors.
