Saahil, Rajjak amongst the 164 cricketers in IPL auction

Two cricketers from Assam are among the 164 Indian cricketers who will go under the hammer on February 18 during the IPL auction.

GUWAHATI: Two cricketers from Assam are among the 164 Indian cricketers who will go under the hammer on February 18 during the IPL auction. The auction is scheduled to be held in Chennai.

The two State cricketers who are selected for auction are right-handed batsman Saahil Jain and allrounderRajjakuddin Ahmed.

It may be mentioned here that another promising cricketer from Assam Riyan Parag, who represented Rajasthan Royals in earlier editions, is already retained by Rajasthan Royals.

Altogether 1,114 cricketers had initially registered for the VIVO IPL 2021 Player Auction. The final list was then pruned after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players.

Rs 2 crore is the highest reserve price and two Indian players – Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav – and eight overseas players – Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy, and Mark Wood have chosen to be slotted in the highest bracket. The Reserve Price of both Saahil and Rajjak is Rs 20 lakh each.
