BISWANATH CHARIALI: The 33rd State Judo Championship concluded successfully here on Sunday in which Karbi Anglong district bagged the best team award. Team from Biswanath district won a total of 32 medals with 6 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze medals. Around five hundred judokas from different parts of the state partici-pated in the 33rd State Judo Championship held in the Himalaya Bhawan, Biswanath Chariali under the initiative of Biswanath Champion Makers’ Academy in association with Biswanath District Judo Association.
The state competition was inaugurated by Pramod Borthakur, MLA Biswanath while the inaugural ceremony was conducted by Joint Secretaries of the Celebration Committee Anjan Borah and Hridayananda Das. The Prin-cipal of Biswanath College Dr Chintamani Sharma, Secretary of Biswanath District Sports Association Ratul Saikia, Joint Secretary Rajen Das, Senior Journalist Basant Borah, Hiranya Borthakur, President of District Judo Association Amir Khan, President of Biswanath Chariali AJYCP Debabrata Medhi along with prominent former players and dignitaries were also present. In addition to this, the games were conducted smoothly under the leader-ship of State Judo Association President Banibrata Das and Secretary Jafar Khan. Veteran players Tarun Bora, Pitambar Koch and Dilip Barkatki were felicitated at the meeting, which was addressed by Executive President of the Celebration Committee Niranjan Hazarika.
