Team arrive in Guwahati for first ODI

GUWAHATI, Jan 8: The day-night match will be held at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara on Tuesday and will kick off at 1-30PM.

Players of the Indian team reached Guwahati in several batches. Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami and a few others landed in the city separately as they were not the part of the T20I squad which India won by 2-1. The remaining players of Team India and Sri Lanka arrived late in the evening.

It will be the first ODI for both Sri Lanka and India in 2023 and perhaps both the sides will start their World Cup preparation with this game in Guwahati. India will host the next edition of 50 overs Cricket World Cup and it will begin at the later part of this year.

Assam Cricket Association is trying its best to organize the game smoothly as they are eying to host a match of the next World Cup. President Taranga Gogoi already clarified their intention in this regard and said, "We desperately seeking a World Cup match at Barsapara and we know this game is very crucial for us to reach that goal. We will try our best to make it very successful."

Both the teams will make their full net session tomorrow. It will be Sri Lanka who will arrive first in the stadium at noon for their training session and the Indian team will arrive for the same purpose in the afternoon.

However most of the Team India members, who arrived early part of the day, visited the stadium in the evening and also spent time on the net. The players who were present at the net at the ACA Stadium in the evening included captain Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Sami, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli and others.

Meanwhile Assam Cricket Association today said that sale of the tickets were going on in full swing and they were expecting a full house on the match day.
