GUWAHATI: Team Red made good comeback in the last day of the final and lifted the challenger Trophy Cricket title defeating Team Green by virtue of the first innings lead here today. The two day-final, organized by the Assam Cricket Association, was held at the Judges ground.
In reply to Team Red first innings total 218, Team Green were 73-1 in their first innings at stumps on day I yesterday and were looked in a very comfort zone. But it was completely different story today as almost all the batsmen struggled on the wicket. Team Green lost their remaining nine wickets for just 99 runs which allowed Team Red to earn vital 46 runs first innings lead and that later ensured title for them. Sidharth Sharma (4-42) and Raj Agarwal (4-40) were brilliant with the ball today.
Team Red were 35-2 in their second innings when the match came to an end.
The closing function was attended by president and secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Ramen Dutta and Devajit Saikia respectively along with former cricketer Rajesh Bora, Pabitra Dutta and others.
