Three-day preparatory camp of Rajasthan Royals begins in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The three-day preparatory camp of Rajasthan Royals got underway at the ACA stadium here today. Six Indian cricketers, including local boy Riyan Parag, participated in the camp which will be continued till Saturday.

Guwahati is gearing up to host two matches of IPL this season and it would be the first occasion when IPL will travel to this North Eastern part of India.

Rajasthan Royals, the champion of first edition of IPL, decided to play two of their home matches in Guwahati and the side already received necessary approval from the BCCI. ACA stadium, Barsapara will host first IPL game on April 5 (Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals) and it would be followed by April 9 (Rajasthan Royals vs KKR).

Keeping it in mind Guwahati as one of their home venue Rajasthan Royals earlier decided to use the infrastructure of ACA Stadium for the preparation of their team and it got underway as per schedule today. Several top officials of the IPL outfit and the Assam Cricket Association were present at the ACA stadium to encourage the cricketers. Altogether seven cricketers were supposed to attend the three-day camp here but Robin Uthappa not available on day I and he will join the camp from tomorrow. The other Indian Cricketers present at the preparatory camp today were Anuj Rawat, Ankit Rajpoot, Akash Singh, Mayank Markande, Aniruddha Joshi, and Riyan Parag.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ Executive Chairman, Ranjit Barthakur, who was present at the ACA stadium today, had a chat with players. Later he said, “We are really grateful to ACA for agreeing to host us at the ACA Stadium for the training camp ahead of the season. We are working very closely with the organizing committee here to make sure we are able to provide the best possible experience for the fans, the cricket community in Northeast as they get ready to witness their first-ever IPL game. This camp is to get our players ready to perform at their best and begin the campaign on a high note against the game with Chennai on 2nd April.”
