GUWAHATI: All Assam Football Referee Welfare Association (AAFRWA) in collaboration with the Assam Football Association will organize two-day special online class for the state referees. The class will get under way tomorrow and around 150 referees from different parts of the state are expected to take part in it.

The activities of soccer are currently at a standstill because of lockdown imposed in the country to combat COVID-19. It also forced the referees to stay at home. The main idea to organize this class is to keep the state soccer referee fresh and active.

The president of the AAFRWA Dipak Dey today said The Sentinel: "Like the players the referrers too need to maintain their fitness level up to a certain stage even though they are away from the referring for a while. However due to lockdown our referees were forced to stay at home and haven't got enough opportunity to do the regular activities on their fitness. So we have decided to provide some tips to them on how to maintain fitness at home with some basic work out. At the same time we would also update them with latest rules of the football."

Renowned FIFA referee and the member of AIFF Referee Board Ranadhir Sow will attend the online class and will impart training. "Before we chalked out plan on this propose class we have contacted the AIFF to get necessary permission and also requested them to depute one expert for it. AIFF has appointed Sow and he would attend the class on both the days," said Dey who is also the vice president (Head of Referee) of the Assam Football Association.
