GUWAHATI: She is the new star on the horizon. Swimmer Shivangi Sarma, who was recently selected in the Indian team for the forthcoming Asian Games, is in the city for a few days break. In a brief conversation with The Sentinel the swimmer looked very focus on her preparation for the forthcoming Games. Here are the excerpts.

The Sentinel (TS): You are in the Asian Games squad. Share your feelings.

Shivangi: I am very happy and is also excited. I had to work really hard to get selected in the Indian team for the forthcoming Asian Games. Can say it’s just like a dream comes true.

TS: How optimistic were you about the Asiad berth this time?

Shivangi: I was very much optimistic. I prepared hard for the Senior National Aquatic Championship that was held in Hyderabad recently and I know good performance in the Championship can open the door for me in the Asiad and finally it happened.

TS: It’s a long journey from Guwahati to Asiad…

Shivangi: Yes. It’s a very long journey and I have to sacrifice a lot. I must admit that my parents and coaches played a crucial role in my progress.

TS: What can we expect from you in the Asiad?

Shivangi:I shall try to give my best timing in the Games. Need blessing from all.

TS: How have you planned the final phase of your preparation?

Shivangi: Camp for the Indian swimmers will be held very soon and I have planned to utilize it in the best possible way. I shall also work with my coach so that I can go to China with a very good preparation.
