Yoga convention organized by State Level Advisory Committee begins

GUWAHATI: A two-day convention on the present status of yoga practice and promotion in Assam will begin in the city on Friday. The event, named ‘Yog Drishti’ will be organized by the State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare (SLAC) and will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium.

.Addressing a media gathering at the Gauhati Press Club the Member Secretary of the State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare Gitartha Goswami said, “Around 300 yoga instructors from various parts of the State will participate in the convention. ”

Goswami also added: “Three academic sessions will be held during the two-day convention where experts, who will come from different parts of the country, will highlight the importance of yoga in our life. The subjects included-Yoga and health for government employees, role of yoga in prevention and management of lifestyle diseases, stress management and mental health care through yoga and meditation etc.”

The media briefing was also attended by two key officials of SLAC Bhaskar Bikram Chetia and Monikanchan Buragohain, President of All Assam Government Yoga Instructors Association Nripen Nath, President of Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre Subhashis Kar and others.
