Lovlina Borgohain's Coach Sandhya Gurung Gets GWG Accreditation

A day ago, Lovlina had claimed that her preparations were hampered as the coach was not allowed to accompany her following which she had to face mental torture.

New Delhi: Boxer Lovlina Borogohain's coach Sangya Gurung has received accreditation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Boxing Federation Of India (BFI) issued a statement giving an update on the matter and said, "Boxer Lovlina Borgohen's coach Sandhya Gurung has received her accreditation and a room at the Sports Village in Birmingham."

A day ago, Lovlina had claimed that her preparations were hampered as the coach was not allowed to accompany her following which she had to face mental torture.

On Monday, taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter and shared a long note claiming that her coach changed at the last minute, which is affecting her training.

"After requesting a lot, both of my coaches were made a part of the training camp before CWG. I am a lot of difficulties in training and eventually, it results in mental torture. Right now my coach Sandhya Gurung ji is outside the Commonwealth Games Village and is not getting entry and my training process has stopped eight days before the Games," she alleged.

Following the allegations levelled by Lovlina, the BFI had issued a statement clarifying that as per rules, only 33 percent of the team involved in each sport could be sent as support staff and in the case of boxing, only 4 support staff out of 12 boxers were fixed.

The federation also asserted since coaching staffs play, a request has been made in the Indian Olympic Association to consider the same following which the number of support staff was increased to 8, including Sandhya Gurung.
