GUWAHATI: Promising cricketer of the state Bibhakar Nag, who was just 20 years old, lost his life in a tragic accident at Kakochang waterfalls, Bokakhat on Sunday. His body was recovered today.
Bibhakar, a resident of Betmahal in Golaghat district, went to visit the spot yesterday and accidently fell in the deep water of the falls. Search operation teams recovered his body today from a place which falls under Dolamara Police Station in Karbi Anglong District.
Bibhakar, who was a pacer, tuned out for Assam in U-16 VM Trophy in the season 2015-16 and later represented U-19 team for 3 seasons from 2017-18 to 20l9-20. In the last season he played four games and collected l8 wickets. The best performance came against Tamil Nadu where the bowler took l0 wickets in the game and played a major role in Assam's Victory.
The president of Assam Cricket Association Romen Dutta and Secretary Devajit Saikia expressed grief on the passing away of Bibhakar. Veteran Cricket Association of Assam also had condoled death of Bibhakar.
