ROME: Graziano Pelle's stunning bicycle kick was not enough as Parma suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Genoa in Serie A on Friday.

Parma was desperate for a win, as it ranked second to last on the table before Friday's game.

The home side broke the deadlock in the 15th minute in a spectacular style as former Chinese Super League player Pelle scored his maiden goal since his return to Parma with an overhead kick.

Genoa made tactical changes by throwing on Gianluca Scamacca and Marko Pjaca after the interval, which proved decisive as Scamacca scored the equalizer in the 49th minute, and later scored a second goal with a rocket from outside the box thanks to Pjaca's assist.

After the defeat, Parma continues to languish in the relegation zone with 19 points, while Genoa ranks 13th with 31 points. Agencies
