Asian Games 2023: Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale Win Gold in Tennis Mixed Doubles

HANGZHOU: The pair of Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale managed to grab another gold medal for the country in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 held in Hangzhou of China on Saturday.

This Indian team comprising Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale managed to beat the Chinese Taipei team of Tsung-hao Huang and En-shuo Liang in the final match of the doubles game. They were able to bag the title with a score of 2-6 6-3 10-4.

This win brings the second medal for India in the game of tennis in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. The previous one was won by the team of Saketh Myneni and Ramanathan Ramkumar, who managed to bag the silver medal in the men’s doubles category of the sport.

Meanwhile, Assam daughter Tokyo Olympic Bronze Medal Winner Lovlina Borgohain has made her way to the semi-finals of the women’s boxing in the ongoing Asian Games. He is contesting in the 75-kilogram category of the event.

Lovlina Borgohain earned the sport after winning her match against Suyeon Seong from South Korea on Saturday. She managed to win the quarter-final bout with a 5-0 score.

This win assures another medal for India in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 held at Hangzhou in China. Lovlina Borgohain has not yet won the upcoming Paris Olympic quota in 66kg and 75kg, the boxers who win gold and silver medals will qualify for the same.

It can be noted that India’s Nikaht Zareen and Preeti have already qualified in women’s boxing for the Paris Olympics in the 50 kg and 54 kg categories respectively.
