Murray moves into 2nd round with win over Durasovic

It was Murray's first win in Australia in three years after he defeated Norwegian qualifier Viktor Durasovic 6-3, 6-1 in 72 minutes.

SYDNEY, Jan 11: The former World No. 1 Andy Murray advanced to the second round of the Sydney Tennis Classic after beating Viktor Durasovic, here on Tuesday.

It was Murray's first win in Australia in three years after he defeated Norwegian qualifier Viktor Durasovic 6-3, 6-1 in 72 minutes to reach the second round at the tournament.

"It is perfect conditions here. It feels like you are playing indoors. It is really nice to get your range here and hopefully, I can carry that through to Melbourne. I was hoping to get matches in Melbourne last week, but that didn't happen," Murray said in his on-court interview.

Meanwhile Ninth seed Elena Rybakina continued her strong start to 2022 by beating U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu in the first round of the Sydney Tennis Classic tournament, here on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Rybakina, who reached her eighth career final in Adelaide last week, needed just 55 minutes to storm past Raducanu 6-0, 6-1 in the first round.
