Indian cricket team skipper and currently the top-rated batsman in the world, Virat Kohli achieves another milestone of his career. Kohli achieves the feat of being the fastest to 20,000 international runs. Just as Kohli reached his 37 runs during India's match against West Indies in Manchester on Thursday, Kohli broke a long-standing record. Notably, previously, this record was held jointly by Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara.
Virat Kohli, after his debut for India in 2010, has been unstoppable and the innumerous runs he has been making with each passing match proves it again and again that he is to run a long race and many more records are yet to be created. Before this, in the ongoing ICC cricket world cup itself, Kohli achieved another feat of earning fastest 11,000 ODI runs.
It was in his 416th innings - 131 in Tests, 223 in ODIs and 62 in T20Is in total that Virat finally reached this magnificent feat. At a time, when Kohli made this feat in 416th innings, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara took 453 innings to reach this milestone. Another cricketer Ricky Ponting reached the 20000 international runs in his 468th innings.
This is not all; Kohli also became the 12th batsman and 3rd Indian to achieve this accomplishment. He is succeeded by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
The total runs scored by Sachin in his cricket career are 34,357, while Dravid garnered 24,208 runs. Both the Indian cricketers are always looked up by their descendants when it comes to performing the best and making the nation proud.
Virat Kohli’s performance on the field had always been remarkable except for a few failures. Even in the ongoing World Cup Cricket as well, he is in good form. Some of the prestigious ICC acclamations the cricketer has received include Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year.
