GUWAHATI: The State Government is inching towards the target of providing jobs to one lakh candidates with the declaration of results for the appointment of 14,281 grade IV posts today. The government declared the results for the appointment of 11,324 Grade III posts yesterday. The government has announced the appointment of 25,605 grade III and grade IV posts since yesterday.
The State Government will hold a ceremony at Khanapara on May 11 on the occasion of the completion of the second year of the Chief Minister Himanta Himanta Biswa Sarma-led ministry in the state. In sync with the second anniversary, the State government is trying to distribute around 50,000 appointment letters for various departments, including grades III and IV, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Addressing the media, commission chairman Dr. B. Kalyan Chakvarthy said, "The state-level recruitment commission for class IV posts was constituted for the recruitment of analogous class IV posts under different departments of the Government of Assam. After its constitution, the commission received requisitions from 48 departments and issued an advertisement on March 25, 2022. A total of 4,42,785 candidates appeared in the written test conducted for two levels of qualifications on August 21, 2022, viz., HSLC (class X) or equivalent examination passed and read up to Class VIII. After the written test, the shortlisted candidates were called for an oral interview from January 5, 2023, to February 17, 2023. Based on the combined marks of the written test as well as the oral interview, the final merit list for 14,281 posts has been prepared, the results are declared, and 14,281 candidates are found to be provisionally selected for appointment."
According to the commission, it selected 4,646 candidates in the ‘HSLC (class X) or equivalent examination passed’ category and 9,635 candidates in the ‘read up to Class VIII’ category.
According to the commission, the selected candidates will know their allotted departments by May 9 through the State Government’s official website. Candidates scoring higher marks will get jobs with higher pay. The SEBA (Board of Secondary Examination, Assam) conducted the written test for grade IV posts.
Meanwhile, talking to the media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The appointment process had no district-wise reservation. However, after the declaration of the merit list, it has come to light that the Barak Valley, Upper Assam, Lower Assam, North Assam, and the rest have got almost proportionate jobs. If 700 candidates got jobs in Dibrugarh, in Jorhat district also 700 got jobs. In a small district, Biswanath district, 350 candidates got jobs. Posts were evenly distributed in all districts, and only the poor candidates got the jobs. This is a record for the state. The selection was absolutely transparent, and on May 11, we will distribute around 50,000 appointment letters."
