18 Assam Civil Service officers promoted to IAS cadre

Eighteen officers of the Assam Civil Service (ACS) have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and allocated to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

GUWAHATI: Eighteen officers of the Assam Civil Service (ACS) have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and allocated to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

A notification was issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training) today which stated that in exercise of the powers conferred by Rule 8(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 read with Regulation 9(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955 and Rule 3 of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, 18 members of the State Civil Service of Assam have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service against the vacancies (between 1.1.2020 to 31.12. 2020) determined by the Government of India in consultation with the State Government, and they have been allocated to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

The 18 ACS officers are – Riju Gogoi, Tonmoy Pratim Borgohain, Syed lsfaqur Rahman, Jadav Saikia, Bhaskar Pegu, Mukul Kumar Saikia, Deba Prasad Misra, Dr Bijoya Choudhury, Gautam Talukdar, Devasish Sharmah, Juri Doley, Puspanjali Das, Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia, Indira Kalita, Swapna Dutta, Munindra Sarma, Khanindra Choudhury and Bhaskar Phukan.

As per rule, a section of senior ACS officers get promoted to IAS cadre. These 18 ACS officers have been promoted to IAS against vacancies in the ACS quota of 2020.
