GUWAHATI: The PHE (Public Health Engineering) has 1,836 defunct water supply schemes in the state. The government has decided to renovate all these defunct schemes under the centrally-sponsored Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

According to the department's statistics, Majuli, South Salmara Mankachar, and Charaideo districts have no defunct PHE water supply schemes.
