HAFLONG: Three students of Dima Hasao died and one was injured in a road accident on NH near Maibang on Monday. The accident occurred when four students, two from Guwahati and two from Haflong, had a head-on collision near Maibang due to lack of proper signage.
They were brought to Haflong Civil Hospital where the doctor declared them brought dead.
Meanwhile, the general secretary of Kuki Students' Organization, Assam, David Changsan slammed the National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) 'negligence' for not putting proper signages. Changsang also demanded compensation for the families of the victims and threatened to protest against the NHAI authority if the demand was not fulfilled..
The victims of the accident were identified as Anit Langthasa (18), Riyan Diphusa (18), and Lethally Lhouvum (Azet) (22), while Stephen L Haolai was seriously injured.
Letkholien Lhouvum (Azet) was a football player who was supposed to play in the national games under-23.
