LAKHIMPUR: In a paradigm shift, the introduction of NCC (National Cadet Corps) in the private schools have been paved in the north-eastern region.
It's indeed good news for the schools in the north-eastern States, including the private ones that are waiting for years to introduce NCC. The Central Government has created nearly 5,000 junior division/wing vacancies in NCC in the fully self-financing mode.
This move came after the long-pending demand raised by the numerous schools that could not introduce NCC due to limited manpower.
This development is set to benefit the student community in a big way wherein they can be a part of nation-building and can get an 'A' certificate that will help them to get admission in professional colleges and accrue benefit in getting jobs. Moreover, cadets will not only get basic military training but also get chances to attend camps, treks, mountaineering courses, leadership development capsules at the national level, besides participating in various social service and community development activities.
In this regard, Additional Director General of NCC, North Eastern Region, Major General Ananta Bhuyan, Sena Medal has stated that the schools that are interested in getting out of turn allotment in full self-financing schemes can approach their nearest NCC offices.
