STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Serious concern has arisen among the guardians and also the students pursuing Classes IX and X in the current academic session after the recent notification issued by the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam) making it mandatory for students to attend offline classes at the rate of a minimum of 75% attendance.

The Assam Government's earlier notification on offline classes at the High School-level had mentioned that though the government had decided to reopen the offline classes the students didn't need to be present in the offline classes. Moreover, the notification also specified that the students would be able to attend the offline classes only with the due permission of the respective guardians.

The mentioned State government SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) had further stated that all online classes would continue despite the resumption of offline classes.

The SEBA notification mentioned, "The schools must ensure proper and regular attendance of students. Each student should attend the regular classes from September 1, 2021; and the Schools should see that minimum of 75% attendance is there during the period from September 1, 2021, to February 2022. It is to be noted that a minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory. Each School has to inform the SEBA. The name of students who had failed to appear in examination and regular classes as mentioned above, for taking the appropriate action like withholding of results etc., of such students."
