GUWAHATI: The toll in floods across Assam rose to 91 with the death of four more persons during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, the main rivers and their tributaries were flowing over the danger level inundating several places. According to the ASDMA's daily flood bulletin, one each died at Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Morigaon, and Golaghat districts.
The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Neamatighat in Jorhat, Tezpur in Sonitpur, Guwahati, Goalpara and Dhubri; Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat district; Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpur district; Kopili at Dharamtul in Nagaon district; Beki at Road Bridge in Barpeta district; Kushiyara in Karimganj district; and the Sankosh at Golokganj in Dhubri district.
Altogether 26 out of the 33 districts of the State have been affected. The flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar and West Karbi Anglong.
As many as 28,32,410 persons have been affected in 2,634 villages/ localities across 74 Revenue Circles. Altogether 47,213 persons have taken shelter in 286 relief camps. Altogether 170 relief distribution centres have been set up.
The total crop area affected till date is 1,19,435.93 hectares.
Altogether 8,89,419 big animals have been affected besides 4,55,390 small animals and 9,26,490 poultry have been affected till Thursday evening.
Embankments, roads and bridges/culverts have been breached at many places. Erosion has been reported from various places in Biswanath, Majuli, Baksa, Bongaigaon, and Lakhimpur districts.
While 152 camps have been affected in Kaziranga National Park, five others have been vacated across the Park. On the other hand, while 123 Park animals have died, 150 others have been rescued till date.
