GUWAHATI: It is official now: The AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) will contest the Assam Assembly elections 2021 jointly with the Indian National Congress (INC). Making this announcement here on Saturday, AIUDF general secretary Haider Hussain Bora said, "The decision was taken at the AIUDF core committee meeting held on the occasion of the party's 16th foundation day."

Chaired by the AIUDF president and MP (Lok Sabha) Badruddin Ajmal, the meeting was held at the quarter of party MLA Abdur Rahim Ajmal at Dispur here. The party president welcomed the move of the Congress to form the 'Grand Alliance', and the AIUDF unanimously decided to join hands with the Congress during the slated State Assembly polls.

The meeting also constituted three political sub-panels; namely the manifesto preparation committee, the election campaign committee, and the election strategy committee.

Earlier during the day, the party flag was hoisted and various other programmes were held at the party head office in Hatigaon here.
