GUWAHATI: The AJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad) has made it clear that it is not going to take part in active politics. It, however, has said that its prime aim is to get the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) repealed, and as such it wants to intensify the agitation against the contentious Act.
The AJYCP had its executive meeting in Guwahati on Sunday when it took a number of decisions. Talking to the media after the meeting, its general secretary Palash Changmai said, “The non-political character of the Parishad will remain intact. Under no circumstances, the AJYCP is going to take part in active politics. I feel that the anti-CAA agitation is losing its steam. Today’s meeting of the Parishad has decided to intensify a united agitation against the CAA with other like-minded organizations.”
On the recent agreement on the proposed BTR, Changmai said, “We want solution to the problems of all ethnic groups in the State. However, such solutions shouldn’t disturb the peace of other ethnic groups.”
