GUWAHATI: The State Secretariat will get a new look after a few months with various departments disposing of all decades-old files. Based on the recent guidelines under Project Sadbhavana, the departments will send the old files that have no relevance to the state archive. The departments, however, are disposing of the files that are still relevant.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Project Sadbhavana recently to clean the State Secretariat. Thousands of files as old as forty years have been lying in heaps in the Secretariat. Till today, 677 people applied for the disposal of their pending files. People who have files pending can apply for disposal even now. The Sadbhavana Project will conclude before August 14, 2022.

Talking to The Sentinel, SAD (Secretariat Administration Department) and GAD (General Administration Department) Commission-Secretary MS Manivannan said, "We are working in a mission mode. It is the Chief Minister's dream project. After a few months, the Secretariat will not have any physical files. All files will be in electronic mode."

The SAD will also auction all old furniture.

After cleaning the Secretariat of old files, the SAD will whitewash the Secretariat to give it a new look.
