GUWAHATI: The Congress rush to the State Election Commission (SEC) with a complaint on the news that ‘the Bogibeel bridge will be inaugurated on December 25’ reported by a section of media when polling for the first phase of panchayat poll was underway in 16 districts of Assam on Wednesday. The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) told the SEC that the report of the inauguration of the Bogibeel bridge was bound to influence the electorate as it was reported when the voting was underway in Assam. The APCC also said that the report quoted the PMO as saying that information. “It’s a clear case of poll code violation,” the APCC said. When asked by the media, SEC HN Bora also said: “We’ve received such a complaint. We’ll look into it. We’re going to seek a report from the PMO.”
When contacted on this information, NF Railway PRO Nripen Bhattacharya said: “We’ve no information in connection with the date of inauguration of Bogibeel bridge, as of now.”
