GUWAHATI: Marking another development for the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the cash-for-job scam, two Additional District Commissioners (ADCs) responded to their summonses for personal appearance on Tuesday.

The two ADCs—Akashi Duarah, posted at Jorhat, and Tridip Roy, posted at Hailakandi—made their appearance at the CID office here in response to the summonses issued to them in the investigation into the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam.

The two ADCs were questioned today by the SIT in connection with the scam, sources said. Two Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs) have already been arrested by the SIT during their ongoing investigation into the scam.

It should be mentioned here that the SIT has issued summonses to 30 ACS, APS, and allied service officers. Starting with the two ADCs on Tuesday, the SIT has directed two to three officers to make a personal appearance before the investigation team every day for questioning, according to sources.

However, if any evidence of their involvement in the scam is discovered, they would be arrested immediately, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the two ASPs arrested earlier were produced before the special court here on Tuesday, at the end of their police custody. They were immediately remanded to judicial custody by the court.
