Pulling chains of trains without valid reasons is a punishable offence under Section 141 of the Indian Railways Act. On being proven the guilt, the person shall be punishable with one-year imprisonment with fine.
Pulling chain of trains for medical emergency, fire in trains, boarding with an elderly or disabled person and safety emergency in case of robbery or looting etc., are, however, considered as valid reasons.
