GUWAHATI: A human trafficker, Amanullah, arrested with nine Rogingyas from the Guwahati Railway Station on July 25, 2021, turned out to be a jihadi linkman.

The RPF (Railway Protection Force) had detained him along with nine Rohingyas on July 25, 2021, and handed them over to the GRP (Government Railway Police). During the investigation, the GRP smelt ba rat from his (Amanullah's) mobile handset that has links with jihadi activities. He also has links with the ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) that is active in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

The NIA (National Investigation Agency) took the case of Amanullah (67/2021) from the GRP with permission from the Court. The NIA suspects Amanullah to have run jihadi activities in Assam.

Amanullah had all along been working as a rickshaw puller at Badarpur in the Karimganj District. Though during the investigation by the GRP he had identified himself as a Kashmiri youth and produced documents supporting his claim, GRP sources said that now it came to light that Amanullah is also a Rohingya.
