Assam: 13th N C Hills Autonomous Council Poll Peaceful

HAFLONG: The election to the 13th N C Hills Autonomous Council held today across the district at 231 (280-49) polling stations recorded peaceful participation by voters.

Polling officials of more than 40 polling stations returned from their respective polling stations and were seen waiting for the submission of ballot boxes.

According to the polling officials, the average voting percentage in and around Haflong would be 80 % while in far-flung areas the percentage of vote is yet to be ascertained. A total of 1, 11,645 voters have to decide the fate of 87 candidates in the 13th NC Hills Autonomous Council election.

101 persons filed their candidature; however, 8 had withdrawn their nomination.

93 are in the fray for the polls. BJP has fielded 28 candidates while the INC fielded 24, TMC field 11, AAP field 5 and the rest 27 are independent candidates.

The polling was held for 22 seats out of 28 seats as the BJP has already won in 6 constituencies namely Maibang East, Maibang West, Hajadisa, Harangajao, Gunjung and Hamri.
