GUWAHATI: The state government today empaneled six retired officers as state inquiry officers for the purpose of conducting departmental inquiries against its delinquent officials.

A few months ago, the state government took the policy decision to engage some retired officers as inquiry officers to speed up departmental proceedings. It takes time for an in-service officer to complete departmental proceedings because of their regular workloads.

The Personnel Department issued a notification regarding the empanelment of the retired officers as inquiry officers.

According to the notification, the retired officers empaneled as inquiry officers are: ACS Ikramul Hussain, retired as Additional Secretary, Personnel Department; ACS Ramendra Nath Sarma, retired as Joint Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs; ACS Dibyajyoti Borkotoki, retired as Secretary, Transformation & Development Department; Satyendra Nath Das, retired as Joint Secretary, Personnel and Education Department; ACS Manabendra Medhi, retired as Additional Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment; and Dibyajyoti Sharma, retired as Joint Secretary, General Administration Department.
