GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Pema Khandu will sign an agreement on boundary issues between the two states tomorrow in New Delhi in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Speaking to the media on the decisions taken by the Cabinet today, Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah said, The State Cabinet’s approval of the recommendations of the 12 regional committees of the state paved the way for signing an agreement between the Assam and Arunachal Pradesh governments in New Delhi at 6 pm tomorrow. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will remain present at the signing of the agreement. The agreement will put an end to the disputes in 12 districts of Assam and eight districts of Arunachal Pradesh.”

Mallabaruah said, “The Cabinet took a major decision on investment in the state. The Cabinet today approved investment proposals worth Rs 8,200 crore for eight mega projects. It will ensure direct employment avenues for 6,100 youths, besides many indirect benefits. The State Government will sign memoranda of understandings with the eight companies on May 9, when this government will complete two years.”

He said, “The Cabinet approved the setting up of a joint venture company by OIL and Assam Gas Company for city gas services. OIL will have 49 percent and Assam Gas Company will have 51 percent of the shares in the joint venture.”

Mallabaruah said, “The Cabinet also approved employment in third-grade posts for ten state sportspersons who won medals in the 36th National Games.”

He said, “Each of as many as 301 Loktantra Senani, who were victimized during the emergency, will get a pension at the rate of Rs 15,000 per month. Those who are not surviving among the 301, their spouses or unmarried daughters will get the pension benefits.”
