GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that "the first state visit of the head of a neighbouring country will onset the flow of foreign dignitaries to the state. Already, the ambassadors of various countries have evinced their interest in visiting Assam".
Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, and Jorhat MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami welcomed Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wanchuk and his kin at the Air Force's airport at Rowriah in the Jorhat district today. From there, the King went to Kaziranga National Park (KNP). The KNP authorities gave the king a spectacular welcome at Kohora Range. King Wanchuk went on an adventurous jeep safari into the Kohora range of the national park.
The King interacted with wildlife conservationists, besides witnessing a colourful cultural programme. He will leave for New Delhi from Rowriah Airport tomorrow.
