Assam Cabinet approves 4% DA (dearness allowance) hike for government employees

The government will need Rs 80 crore to pay the enhanced DA to its employees and pensioners, which was approved by the Cabinet.

GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet today decided to hike the DA (dearness allowance) of government employees and pensioners by 4% with effect from January 1, 2023. With this hike, the DA will be 42%. The arrear DA will be paid along with the salary for the month of March, 2023.

A meeting of the Assam Cabinet was held today which was chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The government will need Rs 80 crore to pay the enhanced DA to its employees and pensioners, which was approved by the Cabinet.

The Cabinet also decided that under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), Rs 2031 crore will be spent in implementing various projects like construction of roads, bridges, embankments with concrete roads etc. The Cabinet approved setting up of a 1,000-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Karbi Anglong under the Chief Minister’s Solar Power Project. The power plant will be built at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide Rs 3,204 crore while the Assam Government will provide the remaining amount.

Since 1993 till date, around 760 families had applied for land allotment under various subdivisions. These applications had been approved by the subdivision land advisory committee but yet these families had not received land pattas. The Cabinet approved land allotment to these 760 families. These families will pay premium based on the value of land when they had applied for land allotment.
